Fall Makeover Series – Chapter 1: Fall Decor Ideas for Your Home

The sound of your boots stepping on crunchy fallen leaves scattered across the sidewalk, a breath of fresh crisp air, and memories of jumping into sky-high piled raked leaves is near – and fast approaching.

As hard as it is to say good-bye to sun-kissed tans, ice cream by the pier, and beautiful summer nights, there’s something far too refreshing about the start of fall. Back to school, a slew of new sitcom seasons premiering on TV, and issues of September Vogue sprawled across every newsstand – fall no doubt brings a sense of renewal. It’s the start of autumn, a dip into the holiday spirit – and not to take away from New Year’s – but arguably, the start of a new you.

So, as the leaves come down, the temperature drops, and mother nature starts changing her course for a refresh, ‘tis the time to mirror change.

With that being said, over the upcoming weeks, we’ll be rolling out our Fall Makeover Series.

The Fall Makeover Series

The Fall Makeover Series is designed to spark creativity, ignite your inner fashionista, motivate you to dream mountains high and bring forth all the different ways you can renew you. Between changing your space, amplifying your look, and discovering a whole new you – it’s time to embrace change and welcome the start of the something new.

Welcome to the Fall Makeover Series.

For the start of the Fall Makeover Series, we’re focusing on your space.

With an up rise in interior design trends, the Marie Kondo craze, and Pinterest home decor hacks taking the social world by storm, the concept of your space is becoming more significant. Whether that’s a 300 square foot bachelor apartment in the heart of a metropolitan city, a 5-bedroom home filled with crying toddlers and dirty diapers, or the comfort of your bed as you gaze out the window – we all have a space.

Our space plays a significant role in our life. It’s where we make important decisions, it’s where we cry, laugh, imagine, and dream. It’s where we wake up every morning, and drift off into sleep every night. Our space naturally becomes a huge part of who we are – which is why we’ve rounded up 5 of our favorite ways to get your space (or your home), ready for fall. These fall decor ideas will have you feeling refreshed, bring in the outdoor feelings of fall inside your walls, and is undoubtedly the perfect start to your fall makeover.

Fall Decor Idea #1: Candles

There’s nothing quite like filling your home with the scents of fall by way of a beautifully crafted candle. Candles are a great way to get your home ready for fall – both through aesthetics and through scent.

Look for scented candles that spark the autumn nostalgia through smells of apple, cinnamon, and pumpkin.

Dual purpose, of course. Search for candles with colors and finishes that’ll add a nice fall accent to your current decor. Steer towards maroons, oranges, golds, dark greens, burnt yellows, and browns.

Fall Decor Idea #2: Blankets & Pillow Covers

Colder temperatures call for more layers. Blankets, throws, and pillow covers are a simple and aesthetic way to add a decor change to your everyday space. Throw a blanket with fall remnants on your living room couch or on your bed. Toss on some autumn themed pillow covers onto your couch pillows. Keeps you warm and cozy, all while adding some style!

Find a throw or with fall colors, or an autumn-like design to tie it all together. Think plaids, rustics designs, and cornucopia-type styles. Here are some super cute very-fall options for pillow covers. (Saves you having to buy a whole new set of pillows, too! Just throw on the cover and switch it up once the seasons change – voila!)

Fall Decor Idea #3: Flowers

Just because the summer is over, doesn’t mean you have to wait until next year’s bloom to decorate with flowers. A bouquet of fall-colored flowers is a great way to spruce up your kitchen island or living room mantel.

Consider flowers like orange dahlias, burgundy roses, and yellow chrysanthemums to pull together for a perfect fall posy.

Fall Decor Idea #4: Pumpkins

Certainly not a fall decor idea to miss – pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins. Big, small, orange, white – pumpkins are an easy and inexpensive way to get some fall vibes going in your space. Pick one up at a local grocery store or head out to a pumpkin patch to find a perfectly-suited ‘kin.

The best part? Make a killer pumpkin pie once its lifetime of household decor is complete!

Fall Decor Idea #5: Soaps & Lotions

A minor, but game-changer detail. Swap your summer soaps & lotions out for fall fragrances to keep the autumn spirit going in the kitchen and bathroom. Inventive scents like “woody-apple-crisp-cobbler” and “pumpkin-peanut-brittle-vanilla-chai-spice” are just some of the aromas you can dip your hands into.

Not to mention – your guests will thank you too!

corner for it too. I like using what I have and switching furniture from room to room. Experimenting with placement can make a huge impact and give a fresh feel for the fall season.
