Burn, Baby Burn: 3 Must-Try Lemon Detox Drinks

They say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Beyoncé tells us if you wanna put Jay in line, you make Lemonade. And we’re saying, if you’re looking for a good pre-summer detox, make lemonade.

If you’re looking to tighten up your belly before bikini season officially arrives, or just looking to rid your body of last Friday night’s toxins, a little lemon can go a long way.

Before we go on, it’s so important to note that lemon alone can not burn body fat. You have to be in a caloric deficit to order to actually lose weight. In other words, if you eat 3 Big Macs a day and one lemon for desert, you probably won’t see results. Healthy Diet + Active Lifestyle = Weight Loss.

Nonetheless, lemon (along with many of the ingredients listed below), can help boost your metabolic rate, reduce cravings, and overall burn more calories, aiding in weight loss. Combine a variation of the below drinks along with a nutritious diet and consistent workout routine, and you’ll be en route to that bikini bod. Remember, consistency and a lifestyle change are key to seeing results. #beyoncéwasntbuiltinaday

Let’s get started

The 2 ingredients you’ll need as a base for all of these recipes:

  • Lemon (duh 🙂 )
  • Water

Drink #1: Cayenne You Feel It?

  1. Take 2 cups of warm water, and add 1/3 of a freshly squeezed lemon, and then the following:
  2. 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (with the Mother)
  3. 1/3 tsp of cayenne pepper
  4. 1 teaspoon of honey (optional, but helps sweeten and masks the spice)
  5. Mix all together, and enjoy!

Drink #2: Lean Green Machine

  1. Boil 2 cups of water, and pour into a mug with 1-2 slices of lemon, and a green tea bag
  2. Let the green tea steep (with lemon slice still in it), and place in the fridge to cool for 1-2 hours
  3. Once cooled, remove from the fridge and take out the green tea bag and the lemon slice
  4. Add 1/4 cup of mint leaves
  5. Add 1/3 cup of freshly cut cucumber
  6. Stir together and drink right away (you can eat the cucumber after, as well!)

Drink #3: All That Glitters is Gold

  1. Boil 2 cups of water, and pour into a mug with 1-2 slices of lemon
  2. Grate 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger into the mug
  3. Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of turmeric in as well
  4. Mix together until consistency becomes even, and a gorg gold color is achieved!

Which of these drinks did you try out? Tell us in the comments below!

Remember: Do NOT attempt at taking all 3 of these at the same time or same day. There’s a limit as to how much citrus your body can handle, and too much can cause gastrointestinal side effects. It’s important to do what works for your body. If you start seeing any negative side effects after consuming any of the above drinks, stop immediately.

Yup you can take it in the morning, just be careful or stop doing it if you start feeling sick or nauseous since there is a high level of acidity in these drinks. Hope that helps!
