5 Ways to Unwind After a Super Stressful Day

We’ve all had those days.

You know, one of those screw-everything-I-have-no-motivation-so-pass-me-the-wine days.

It was a super stressful day at the office and the last thing on your mind is the gym, or doing anything even remotely productive.

It’s time to treat yourself. Self-care is key to keep yourself sane during the busy work weeks, and as important as it is keep that cardio on point, once in a while you’ve just got to relax. Take a page out of Margot Robbie’s book and keep reading for the 5 ways you can unwind after a long day.

1. Unplug, disconnect, unwind

Rule #1 – put that phone away. The last thing you need after a rough day is to be scrolling through social media, comparing your life to the Insta-fake world. Unplug, disconnect, and keep those screens far, far, away.

2. Get the bath running

Time to take out that Lush bath bomb you got last Christmas that you still haven’t used. Get that water running, and follow steps 3, 4, and 5 before you hop in!

3. Find a good book

When’s the last time you picked up a real book? You know, a book made of paper – and not one you’re reading through your phone, tablet, or Kindle? In honour of unplugging in Rule #1 – find yourself a good tangible book where you can turn the pages, smell the paper, and just relax.

4. Pour yourself a glass (or two) of wine

Wine not? Have you ever seen one of those glasses that hold a whole bottle of wine? Tonight might just be the night for it (just kidding – but not really). Every now and then you’ve got to treat yourself. Nothing like a nice glass (or two four) of Merlot paired with a good book and a hot bath.

5. Light candles or spray essential oils

Last but certainly not least, the final touch for your destress sanctuary: candles and/or essential oils. Light up a candle or turn on your diffuser and get that aromatherapy going. Scents like lavender, eucalyptus, chamomile, and frankincense, are known to help calm nerves as a natural remedy for anxiety.

And voila! Before you know it you’ll be #tooblessedtobestressed.
